The story starts in 2009 when I was in the high school computer room. My teacher said that now we can view our world, there is new software called google earth. That day when I browse Nepal, I was so happy I can view anywhere from that computer. I view White House, New York City, Australia, Kathmandu on that day.
Next day when I tried to find my house, I can not trace that on google earth. The quality of satellite image at that time was low, I was not that much familiar with navigation. I tried to find my house for a long time but I can not even trace that landscape. I think after the continuous effort of more than a year I am able to find My landscape (Yasok, Panchtahr Nepal). But there were not any points, business, locality names.
Now I want to add the name of places, localities to map, but no Idea who add this to map? how to request to add a new place? In 2019 while searching on google map, I eyes goes to small words on the bottom right corner of the map, in small words there was edit map. That day I was so happy that I accidentally discovered a google map maker program which I was searching for so long time.
At first, I have no idea about what can I add, what I should not add to map? So many of my edits are rejected to become expert about what to add and what not to?
After Google local guide program is started mapping and sharing becomes easier than before in many ways. We now can add and edit places from the mobile which is a great achievement. But still, I miss some features in map maker like adding roads, locality, etc.
When I want to visit a new place, I always check the map of that place. If I didn’t find any kind of information about that place, it’s very hard to book hotels, find the appropriate route and places to visit around that place. So, I always add new business, places on the map wherever I visit new place.
