In India, we have many many historic temples dating back from hundreds to thousands of year old. I would love to visit those temples and bring out the details of those temples and throw some light in Google Map so that it would be helpful for those visiting them.
Each temple is unique in its style, the architect, the tradition and custom they follow, the prayers and poojas they do, the timing they follow, the sacred tree present in the temple etc., vary from temple to temple. A huge temple may be built using a single stone or rock, the days they do special prayers may be different depending on the planets and stars. For example a temple which cures Cancer will follow a different tradition as opposed to the one curing Kidney disease. Visiting temples in India is believed to provide a boon to the individual and hence these details are of utmost importance. Hence providing those details in Google Map is very much helpful for those visiting the temple so that they get an idea of what is followed, what to be done, what they need to bring etc.
ABOUT THE PICTURE: This is one of the temple where the Banana tree grows on the temple roof rather than on the ground and is known as “Kal Vazhai” in Tamil language meaning “Stone Banana” as the tree grows in the roof of the temple and this continues for many many years. This is considered as the sacred tree for this temple.
