Why I love to review anything about food?

I can vividly remember it started when I was 9 years old. I was sitting in the corner of our kitchen as my mother was cooking for our family. It was just crossed my mind and I asked her if I can cook too. After multiple debates later, eventually she gave me the permission and I was allowed to cook the very basic meal like eggs and fried rice. And more than a decade later, the dream continued when I went to cooking school in Jakarta

When I graduated, I started to travel around the world. A few months before the journey itself, I will always searched for food and dessert recomendations from Google Maps. It would be fair to say that food is my main focus local places and experienced to eat like locals. Not only the restaurant listings has whenever I travel. And thanks to those Local Guides whom reviewed about the local food so I was able to discover contributions for local business, but also for their potential customers to know very essentials tips about when is the best time to go to avoid crowd and long lines to what’s best menu to order.

Whether it’s velvety and creamy sicilian dessert from a small alley somewhere in Rome, or hearty Indonesian food like spicy Beef Rendang in the small restaurant in the middle of Philadelphia. Even when those places were packed with locals and tourist like me but those comfort foods were worth waiting for. Another stories were like when I tried the food from a humble breakfast joint near my place in Jakarta which served slow cooked Indonesian Lontong Sayur to a flaky croissant in Lune , said to serve the best pastry in Fitzroy Melbourne, thus the long queues for takeouts, so I had to wait in long lines in crazy cold and windy winter morning. And my days just made by that very second the food touched my lips. Or perhaps, some tips like if anyone looking for the best pizza in New York City City rather than the touristy pizza place in crowded Times Square, you could go to Sal and Carmines in Upper Manhattan instead. And also to know that not only Momofuku has the best confetti cake but they also have the baking class for us to make it from the scratch. How cool is that? All of those useful informations I got from Local Guide that I will forever grateful.

I love how Local Guide from Google Maps channeling it and make it easier for us foodie to unite and connected even when we’re thousand miles apart for the sake of food. So everytime I came home from travel, I’m keen to adding places and also reviewed the dishes I’ve tried whenever I travel so I could pass along those personal informations and tips so other people can enjoyed it too. It’s also the least I can do to contribute for small and local business. Especially when I know that my reviews received around 51.000 views. It’s amazing how the small things I did, could make a bigger impact for others.

The epitome of good food is my passion.

I just remember how the Local Guide helped you found the Toko Kopi Maru, that turned out just right at the corner of the block from where we had lunch. Ease the decision making of “where should we go now” and saving our famous “muter-muter” riding.

Keep posting @dindamaulina ! May the others be guided…
