I love sharing on Google. One of my jobs as a freelance writer is travel reviews, so this is a natural fit. That said, when I share local businesses, it makes a difference.
Recently I was shopping in a local liquor store for an occasion. I’m sure I was a trial for the owner as I knew nothing about the subject, but he was very helpful. At the end, as I was paying, he gave me a discount. He said he recognized me from my google review, and wanted to say thank you for helping his new, small business. I was floored.
It also made made me realize how important it is to be kind. While my reviews are honest, I will never give an awful review. I would rather just not mention it. Especially when it comes to small businesses, because it makes a difference.
