Why I love sharing on Google Maps

Hello dear friends!!

In this post I want to share with you why I’m keen on working in Google Maps.

I’m not the kind of person who visits exotic places around all the world, or the kind of traveller who wanders along the streets of a lost city searching for that special hidden place to take this special photo and even more I don’t know what the Malaysian Satay is. Even so I think I can be very useful for people finding the right place in the right moment around my area or in the ordinary places where I travel.

I work hard to find out the background of the businesses that I visit and I take my time filling the missing information in the Google Maps. And this is exactly what I love to share in Google Maps, things about the places that I regularly visit. Every time I correct the timetable of a shop or I add a missing place to the map I feel that I’m helping a person or more who are looking for this information at some point in the next 5 minutes or in the next 5 years.

There is another service that we, the Local Guides, do for the society. Even in this digital era there are many people who don’t care whether the information of their businesses appears clearly on the Internet and this is a gap that we can fill, working for them, helping them show the right information they didn’t care to share.

This double help motivates me to continue doing what I do, but there is a third reason, certainly the most selfish one, I am very proud when I see my views counter increase because it means that people are reading what I’m writing or looking at my photos this is a kind of feeling of recognition that I really like.

These are the reasons why I like sharing. I’m sure that as I increase my participation in Google Maps I’ll be discovering more reasons to be engaged because this journey has just started.

We’ll see you around!!
