Why I love sharing on Google Maps

Hi, I’m Sebastian.

I’m from Germany originally, but live in Japan now.

When I first came here, with addresses not being very intuitive and a language I couldn’t read, getting around was really difficult for me. Not being great at orientation didn’t help much either. Checking Maps on my computer (that was before I owned a smartphone) really helped me understand where to go.

Nowadays, my reading still isn’t perfect, but with Google Maps on my Pixel, getting around is a breeze. Being able to find places, see whether they’re open, check train schedules, discover new sights and many other things with just a few taps is one of my favorite parts about our digital age.

And since I know how difficult it can be to find your way here, I got involved as a guide to help other foreign travellers or people trying to start their life in Japan get around.

Writing reviews of places (in English) and posting pictures, answering questions, commenting on people’s posts, anything that helps, really. I love that I am able to so easily help others, and that’s why I love sharing on Google Maps!
