Why I love roads?

Hello everybody,

My name is Maksym Domin, I live in Ukraine and love programming, photo and interesting places. Some time ago I purchased a new smartphone and, during its setup, Google suggested me to be a Local Guide. I thought - why not? Along with my passion for auto-tourism, it gave wonderful results - many other travelers got to see the world through my eyes.

Well, I am an auto-tourist. Among the many ways to reach the place I want, I prefer my own car. This gives me freedom of choice, independence from the terms of the airlines on baggage transportation or car rental companies. Of course, there is a risk of breakdown - but I always try to keep the car in good technical condition.

Every trip is always a new adventure. Starting in 2008 with a trip to Bulgaria, every year our trips become more and more interesting and intense. New places and new experiences, new photos and videos - all this remains in the memory, not only on the computer, but also as wonderful memories of every second of the trip.

Having become a Local Guide, I like to place my photos on the Google maps. I always try to choose the best view, good lighting, composition - perhaps due to my studies at art school in childhood. It’s impossible to take a good picture in a hurry - it always takes time. I always want my photos to bring pleasure to my viewers.

And my impressions about roads are impossible without good photos.

I want to share with you the memories of traveling to Crimea, the south of Ukraine. It was the summer of 2012, during the European Football Championship, which was held in Poland and Ukraine. This summer we visited many places in Crimea, including the winery factory Novyi Svit, Sevastopol, Vorontsov Palace in Alupka and many others, and it was an impressive trip. I especially remember the most beautiful road of Crimea - the Alushta-Sudak highway.

The road from Alushta to Sudak in Crimea is one of my favorite roads that I have traveled. The winding tape of road emphasizes the Southern coast of Crimea. There are mountains on one side, the sea on the opposite side - what could be more beautiful?

The trip on this route completed our voyage to Vorontsov Palace in Alupka. Tired but satisfied, we were returning home to the Novyi Svit. Usually it takes 2-3 hours to pass the road, and it is especially beautiful in the rays of the setting sun, when centenary cypress trees and juniper cast long and soft orange shadows on the road. And in the window - a magnificent view of the smooth, like glass, sea.

Every kilometer of the route will never leave anyone indifferent to the unearthly beauty of Crimea. Semydvir’ya, Sonyachnohirs’ke, Rybache, Mors’ke - each village along the way bears the imprint of the centuries-old history of the Crimean peninsula.

Mors’ke - our favorite place for a beach holiday. Deserted beaches, valleys, vineyards attract with their natural purity and natural simplicity.

The Genoese fortress in Sudak is the last outpost before the Novyi Svit. This section of the route passes under the sheer cliffs crowning the Novyi Svit Reservation. And like a diamond in a necklace, the mountain Koba-Kaya ends the road. We arrived.

Gaining strength for a new trip. Who knows where the road will take us?

P.S. here is my time lapse (21 mins) of that trip:
