For me, being a local guide is special since I have the humble responsibility of putting my little grain of sand on creating a reputation of the places I visit always being honest with the public about how this place is. It is very gratefull knowing that in a almost anonymous way, my opinion matters to other people and because of that, I put all my effort on being pending on all details and taking good pictures so I can highlight the good things about the place I am. I work with public so I know in first hand how important this is for all bussineses it doesn’t matter whether is a tiny local store on your street or a big restaurants chain having good comments about your business. It seems little but actually, reviews have the power of bringing or pushing people away.
I mostly do reviews about restaurants because I love to eat and I like to express my opinion of how I felt and what I liked.
Honestly, I don’t even remember why I started doing it but after seeing how this helps people (including me) in their decisions, I just kept writing. It is not a secret that when it comes to choose a place to gather with friends, have dinner or to meet something new in a country or city is very complicated specially because you never want to make a bad choice; the idea is to have the best experience as possible, right?
I even liked it so much “being a critic” that I decided having my own blog about travel (I’m still shaping it).
I’m really looking forward to be chosen for this year’s Connect Live event since I will be able to meet people from other places and exchange information, ideas, experiencies, etc., that I know will give me more tools and help me improving my way of evaluating things and also doing the reviews in a most efficient and productive way in order to make it useful to people with special tastes or needs or that just want to try different things.
After preparing my application I realized the impact these little contributions could have in the economy and lifestyle of the people all over the world and I really want to be part of the evolution of the world, because right now, it might seem something banal but the power of transforming this into something with meaning is in us.
