Firstly when I started using google maps I realized there were so places that need to be updated or corrected. Since Google offered users to suggest edits I started with a few initially.
Later these few of them became permanent on the maps. I interest triggered when one of my new places became a landmark. Then on I was doing it for fun. Later on I got regular updates that people are actually checking out my pictures posted and read comments about the places. This is when I became active as a local guide since my work was helping thousands of people.
I found Google appreciating the work and I became motivated keep continuing to post pictures, comments and reviews.
