The subject that I love sharing the most, on Google Maps, is my personal experiences of travelling through or to airports around the world. In 2018, it was estimated that 4.5 billion people flew on nearly 45 million flights around the world. Both these sets of figures were record-breaking! So, for me, as a hugely passionate aviation enthusiast, it gives me a great deal of pleasure to write about the airport experiences that I have encountered.
For example, one amazing experience that stands out for me, is when I flew from London Heathrow (Terminal 5) to Frankfurt Main with my young daughter (1 at the time), to meet up with my wife who was already over there on business, and then travel on, to meet up with friends. This was at the very same time, when much of Europe was being afflicted by a very cold snap from Siberia (March 2018).
The reason that this was such an amazing experience was, having battled the biting wind, lots of snow and ice to reach Heathrow, it was a relief to find, that help from airport staff was forthcoming. They assisted us by pushing our baggage trolley, re-directing us to a fast track lane through security and helping with our carry-on bags. All that, coupled to the fact of, state of the art facilities in Heathrow, meant that this was a truly touching experience, and is the reason why, I gave Heathrow a five stars rating, in the review that I did (https://goo.gl/maps/PfimmZNkXyWBbcX68). I think this highlights that when times are difficult or challenging, people do come together to help one another. This was certainly my experience in this instance.
The reason why I like to share this information is that I think the statistics above, highlight the huge demand for air travel. I have come to the conclusion that I feel it is important to write impartial, honest and accurate reviews, so that people can make an informed choice as to whether they would want to travel through or to a particular airport based on my personal experience, and that of others.
