Why I like sharing information and photos about places I visited

My priority as a local guide is to promote an all inclusive accessibility with my contributions to the Google maps. That is accessibility for all - one accessibility. So in the spirit of local guides I like sharing information and photos about places I have visited or added to the Google maps. What I like sharing most is detailed reviews and updated information about these places, as well as answering accessibility questions to help people make the right decision.

I have come to realize that as local guides we wield a lot of influence on people in their decision making. We guide and help them in making informed decisions about certain issues through our contributions to Google maps. It could be in making decisions on the best affordable hotels in town, or decision about navigating to a destination. It could also be decisions on the best tourist attraction or site to visit, or decision on where to get the best dish in town. As local guides we also help people make decisions on how to find the best alternative route to either work or events. And whatever decisions it may be our contributions guide billions of Google maps users in decision making. And I kind of like it.

I want to share my experience with the man from Helsinki (names withheld for privacy reasons). Standing in front of me one early morning was this man, a tourist all the way from Finland. He was on tour of West African countries. One amazing thing about this man is that he has an air of confidence around him. He has a fair knowledge of Nigerian currency and seems to know his way around as he was able to monitor the Uber driver that drove him from the airport down to my office.

However as I was attending to him confirming his ticket and other travelling documents I quickly ask him how he got to know about our company. At this point he brought out his mobile phone and showed me the Google maps. Here, ‘this is my traveler’s companion’ he quipped in, talking about the Google maps. Hence he was able to make decision on the best transport company to use right from Helsinki. Then he told me that our transport company was top of the list of those recommended to him. Here he was miles away from home guided by this app. This encounter strengthened my resolve to work harder to improve the Google maps so that more people will benefit from it.

Now I feel very elated and fulfilled to know that so many people around the world make informed decisions based on the contributions of local guides. Hence I like sharing these information and photos on Google maps to help travelers and tourists navigate to their destinations. The Google map is no doubt a very powerful app such that even when we are not present to guide these people, they will be guided by the information we provided. So as a local guide I will work selflessly to improve it and help in bringing the world closer to billions of Google map users.

I therefore volunteer to share more information and photos about places I have visited to help promote an all-inclusive accessibility on the Google maps. Accessibility for all where all Google maps users will benefit irrespective of gender, creed, language, status, race, and whether they are physically challenged or not. It is one accessibility for all. I want to make sure everyone is given free and equal access to information on the Google maps app.
