Why do I become a local guide?
When you see a new coffee shop that just opened in your area, or when you see a hip bar people always go to, do you ever feel intimated if you want to go there? Because I do, and I’m sure there’s someone out there like me too. Whether you don’t know the prices and would be too ashamed if you decided to leave the restaurant after you see the menu, or you don’t know should you sit on the table and wait for the server, or you order directly in the cashier, and do you pick up your drinks or someone going to deliver them to your table? Well if you’re like me and would be too shy to asked, you’ll google reviews about people’s experience in this place.
I work full-time during the day and went to school at night. But I also love going to new places, trying out new restaurants, I love finding a new coffee shop to work in my free time. So of course time and money is a big issue in my life right now, and I’m sure a lot of people can relate.
That’s why I want to be a local guide. Mostly I love sharing my opinion, but also I want to share my experience. I want people to know what they’re getting into before they step into the restaurant, coffee shop, or bars they’ve been eyeing for weeks on the way back home from work. I want to let people know that this place that I just visit is worth my time and money, and if I think it’ll worth yours too.
So that’s why I want to be a local guide, sharing my opinions, experiences, stories, and help other people with their experience as well.
But… what I love most about it?
I am always in the search of finding the best cireng in town! Cireng, which stands for aci goreng, is a traditional food from West Java, my hometown. It’s basically a fried tapioca flour usually served with sambal or peanut sauce. I am obsessed with cireng. It’s my favorite Indonesian food. You can find cireng in a lot of street vendors, not a lot of restaurant sell them. So whenever I find cireng on the menu of a restaurant. I just have to ordered it. Cireng can be so good or it can be so bad, so that’s why finding a good cireng can be hard to find. Just writing about this makes me want some.
So far I’ve located 4 restaurant that sell cireng and tasted good, I’ve made a list about it. Cireng is not really the typical food people look for when they visit Indonesia. But I’m sure if you can get past the not very attractive shape and tasted it, you’ll love it!
