Why I become a Google local guide

I am a LG from Malaysia. I love to try new food at any place where I never tasted before and I always “jio” (invite) friends and foodies to have a meal together, it became my hobby. Since then I started to take photos and upload to Google and share my experiences about all the different places across the world. Whenever I use Google Maps to navigate a place that I want to visit, it will prompt to ask something like How was your experience? Or How I like the place? I will write some reviews, of course, not all are good, I will give a low rating if the place or food is disappointing, I write based on my experience. When a Google user asks a question on a place that I have visited, I could answer them; I believe that my reviews can help more people across the world! I started posting pictures of food and scenic spots. I see that other reviews were always very helpful, so I wanted to give back the same experience to other people - to see reviews, pictures and videos of the places. I also posted my pictures for the reason to make some places easier to find - like how does the building look from outside or what kind of products does a place sell.

The only thing that frustrates me is that I don’t know how to add approved places (like add a new place where the google map cannot show it? I have 3/10 but I have no idea how did I make it…) I love the most answering questions and posting pictures. I am proud to be a local guide because I don’t trust the reviews on other platforms like Facebook and TripAdvisor where some places are overrated, and I think some are “sponsored” by the merchant. Being a local guide, I can share photos and video with informative reviews for various places in Malaysia from a local perspective. My reviews are mainly on tourist attractions, cafés and restaurants as I enjoy the scenic spots and meal, at the same time I want to share these to all the Google users. Currently, I have made it to level 8 and I am on the way to achieve my goal - become a level 10 local guide.
