When i became a guide it was for selfish reasons, to write a bad review for a place I would never return to. Now i don’t even remember the place exactly, i do remember that i didn’t even summit the review. My life has truly changed since then and i do try to help people with my reviews. I try to be unbiased and not a write a review when i only have gone somewhere once, unless it was truly awful or just amazing. My reviews have slowly changed from just star rating, to what i hope are truly helpful.
Since my first review I have become a service dog handler. I pondered for a very long time on whether or not review places based on how i was treated because of my pup. I worried about people faking service dogs and going to the places that i rated high on helpfulness, and ruining it for real handlers. I do now rate places on how i am treated as a handler. I finally realized i can’t stop people from breaking laws, but i can help people with service dogs know who i had a good encounter with. I realized there are a lot of handlers who are scared of going out to places because they are scared of being turned away even though it is against the law to turn . away a real service dog team.
I know there are a small number of people in my situation, and most people don’t benefit from this type of review, but not only is only a small part of each of my reviews, its this small party i want to help.
