Why I add places on Google Maps

I have been a local guide for year plus now. Adding missing places and making edits on Google Maps has been fun and interesting. I add places or make reviews for one simple reason, to make the map more eco-friendly when it comes to navigation.

You can somewhat agree with me that asking people for directions sometimes is irritating. What gets more irritating is when you check on maps and the place is missing and those nearby dont know the place. Being a local, I feel it would be good to provide guidance to those who would like to access the same place I just visited.

I started adding places when I learnt I could add a missing place and since when I go to a place I havent been before, I give reviews, suggest edits and answer some questions people ask when familiar with the place.

Also adding places helps improve accessibility of businesses and indirectly marketing the place freely. Adding places is a great way to guide other people to places without being asked at the same time not being rude when offering directions.Caption: A photo of Korean traditional dishes at a Korean traditional restaurant.(Getty Images)
