Why hide these 8 shots?

On August 4th I did a long photo walk which resulted in 260 photos. After lightly editing and cropping them I uploaded them to 217 places on Google Maps.

Having 70% (29% + 41%) featured is very good and I’m happy with that. But 9 photos were made private instantly. I tried to delete and upload again, which reduced the number of instantly hidden pics to 8.

If the seven photos were obviously bad losing 3% would not be a bit deal, but they are not. Please see this Google Photo Album with the 8 photos. Do you think they are of low quality? The photos are in the same order as the places in the table below.

Comments

1: claimed | 0 uploaded pics

2: not blurred faces | claimed | Pro pics + an old one of mine

3+4: claimed | pro pics only

5: not claimed | my old pic is the cover | few meters from the main building | vertical lines could be more plumb

6: not blurred faces | not claimed | No pics uploaded

7: not blurred faces | claimed | 360 pics and from other LGs

8: claimed | similar to current cover, but mine is more well-lit

Do you see any other reasons why these photos are not accepted?

Do you have suggestions for what I could try?

Any input will be highly appreciated. And I’m happy to try out some of your suggestions to get them accepted.

All the best

Hi @MortenCopenhagen Question are you simply adding photos or are photos included with reviews?.

Good morning, @TerryPG .

I’m simply adding photos without reviews or star-only ratings.

Thanks

Hi my friend @MortenCopenhagen

All are high quality and amazing photos,

But two of them contains people’s face which is not true on the map.

Two others have blurry reflections on the glass which is OK but maybe makes error for system detection.

but in general, the system sometimes has mistakes and this is hard for me to find what mistakes it did about hiding my photos/reviews. You did a great observation.

Thanks for checking, @Amiran .

Actually, 3 photos had faces 2, 7, and 6. I blurred the faces, deleted the copy on Google Maps and uploaded the blurred copies.

Under normal conditions they would show up on the places’ pages right away. Sorry, but that did not happen. I will check again in a day or two, but I think it is very unlikely.

Normally, strong reflections do not make my photos private. I have tons of such photos on Google Maps. The Dentist office put some matted plastic on the inside of their windows for privacy. I can’t change that.

But thanks for your suggestions.

Cheers

Yes. You are right. @MortenCopenhagen

My 2 combined photos that google Maps makes them private.

Same happening with my 1 review also. In both case I am following google Maps contributer policy.

Some hidden things like our some contributions like photos, videos, reviews will making them private by maps.

Still mystery available.

Please remember to always leave a clean trail of messages so other readers can understand the context as discussed here. You still have the habit of changing posts and replies in ways that make other replies look very much out of context or leaving them as nonsense for future readers. Most recently I had to rephrase this reply because you just deleted what I referred to. Please be more considerate.

When you now wrote: My 2 combined photos that google Maps makes them private. This is also impossible for others to know what you are talking about. Please don’t jump between threads without leaving a clear trail for others who want to understand our conversations.

Your sentence “My 2 combined photos…” refers to your post here where you suggested combining two or more photos into one before uploading them to Google Maps. You are now confirming that this is not a good idea. In fact, you violated these basic guidelines:

  • Stylistic adjustments (such as applied filters) are acceptable, provided that these stylistic changes are minimal.
  • Excessively dark or blurry images significantly rotated compositions, and the use of filters that dramatically alter the representation of the place may be rejected.

Source: Maps User Contributed Content Policy Open Photos and Videos and then Stylistic adjustments.

By combining photos I believe you are not following the mentioned guidelines.

Finally, you wrote:

Thanks morten for giving me the detailed reply. I will try to apply more clarification as you mention me now and in the past, I can do my best.

Regarding my previous post it’s still my experiment and I am apologize for my behavior on my that post, for editing and modification.

Regarding my previous comment, as you mention (photos views not shown) , I remove the links because I supposed to that about photos showing up issue.

I made combined photos for Helping to the bus station.

It’s better to upload one image that having all Stations details in front of individuals station images. (More than 12).

I didn’t make Staylish adjustment because my angles are not perfect due to high traffic on the bus station.

I want to save people time who wandering about station’s details. I am not wondering about photo views or photo counts. So, I thought google Maps will publish my that photos. However, based on your advice I remove the filters from my photos and will uploading again.

That’s why I tag deni.
