Why has easy location select changed?

Until very recently, when I shared from Gallery to Maps on my S8, I was offered some sensible locations based on where I had been.

Not now. They are stuck on a few non-relevant ones. Only when I start typing a location does a sensible selection appear.

All my location services are turned on for Maps, so I don’t know what has changed. Any ideas?

Hi @JaneB

I have often noticed that the suggested place and the list of suggested places are often off. They seem to be just places near to my current position and not close to the gps coordinats of the photo I’m trying to share to Google Maps from Google Photos.

It has been like this for months now.

It seems that after 1-3 photos the precision comes back.

I think you have reported a real bug. My GPS never fails me, so I doubt it is a bad GPS causing this problem.

Maybe @DeniGu would kindly take a look at this problem.

You have rightly pointed out the change in the Photos app.

Nevertheless, the Google Photos app has now some improved features.

This article highlights that.

The new change provides an excellent feature " Map view".

Scroll any photo upwards and that shows some more information on an Android phone.

f the photo contains GPS data, then the map view will show where exactly you have clicked that.

Here, you can select " Open Maps" at the right corner of the map view.

The exact place will open up. Now from here, you can add a photo to that precise spot, if you see the option to do so. If not, better to leave that.

One notable attribute of the latest change is, a user can’t post a photo at a place where it’s not expected.
