Exploring a new place or a city on my own with Maps on my hands is something which I always cherish.
Since the advent of smart phones, our whole world has become a global village, opening up opportunities at every corner of the earth and also enabling people to go beyond their imaginations. As technology has advanced, so has our ways of commute and navigation between places.
I remember using Google Maps since its earlier days and looking at it now, GMaps has become an absolute necessary tool while stepping out of our houses. In countries like India, where there are multiple ways of commute with a huge density of vehicles in metropolitan cities, Maps surely helps us in planning ahead. Be it job interviews, friend’s meet ups or commuting to work, Google Maps is everybody’s savior. From asking-nearby-people for directions to Google Maps literally helping us in every turn, technology has really come a long way.
Google Maps also plays a huge role with regards to safety especially when traveling to unknown places. It acts as our all-knowing-friend, assisting us in every turn, be it, picking hotels, restaurants or finding local attractions or even commute within the city. I remember my trip to Calicut. That was my first time in Kerala and I was terrified and overwhelmed. With nothing but Maps only, I was able to enjoy the local cuisine of Calicut, visit the beach, did a short city walk and bought the best Kozhikode Halwa ever. The joy I feel while reminiscing is priceless.
The reviews, routes, distance, duration are so accurate that one need not even depend on conventional wisdom of traveling. More we share our routes taken, our reviews and human touch, we are just making Google Maps smarter and smarter.
