Why Google Maps is my most used app - a Song of Beirut.

When I say Lebanon, you say “what?”

yes… I know you probably Googled it.

And for that, i love Google Maps.

it gave me the opportunity to say: “Look, it’s not what the movies tell you, we are … Special”.This small mediterranean country is the master of change and shifting. we have so much passion for fashion (think Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad for starters) , FOOD (Kebab and shawarma is not even the starters), music and people that, every day, in this miniature country of 10452km2 (4030 sqm - that’s smaller than Connecticut), we have new places opened, with the eternal need for creativity, mastery of innovation and the genetics wired towards LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST.

why? this is a small country where everyone wants the

same thing, and wants it differently every day. So the key is: to genuinely stand out, without being the “copy-cat”, maximizing the available resources, minimizing waste, being friendly to all the religions and genders and philosophies, pets and still stand out.

Voila! Google Maps! … Photos and Videos.

I enjoy telling a story with my photos and videos. they are never filtered, photoshopped (I have a degree in Data analytics :unamused:) and they are what I see and wish you’d see with me. (that would be me, literally pulling you and your coffee and sticking your cheek onto mine and screaming "LOOKY!!! WOW!"

I want to tell the story of each shop, building, etc, push you to see its soul, architecture, the intricate thought, the random happening, the beautiful aura, the tasty food, the energy that music vibrates and the laughter that it all brings out. With the videos i want you to be teleported to standing or sitting next to me, holding my hand, and partaking in a short journey that takes you at its epicenter. I photograph and video for Google Maps with a true aim: let the world see this place and let them judge it by themselves. it’s like i’m scribbling “Annie was here” on each desk of this coffee shop, on each tree in that wood, on each fish in that lake, on each seat at the bar (but in a very humane and eco-friendly way - I am severely eco friendly and socially responsible).

I am here in Google Maps, updating, adding new places, changing information, because I want you to enjoy your journey through this country, every step of the way. And when you are back home, I hope you will share your own photos, smile, write your side of the story and thank us for guiding you there… <3
