Why does the Google local guides program uphold my responsibility with society**?**

Fifty years ago, when I was a young boy scout, during an exploration to the Van Nien area in Vietnam, I was told that Lồi Citadel was a part of the Citadel built due to a challenge between Vietnam and Chiem Thanh Army. That legend is still circulating today . Two years ago, passing by Lồi citadel again, I wrote a review telling that story.

Recently, I happened to read an investigation of a Vietnamese archaeologist, Prof Tran quoc Vuong and realized that Lồi citadel had been built up before the VII Century. At that time, there was no force called the Vietnam military force.

Bà Nà Hills, Đa Nang city Viet Nam, built up in 21th century. Me and my wife.

So I felt the need to revisit the documents. Using Google, a medium never imagined 50 years ago, I got the answer after just two hours: The Lồi citadel is a large citadel, likely the ancient capital of the Chiêm Thành country, built from the 7th century. Viet Nam was not considered a country before the X century.

Khai Dinh’s Royal tomb. Built in early 20th century. Me and my daughter.

From there, I realized I needed to take greater responsibility as a Local Guide when writing reviews with the community in Google maps. Merely complimenting and commenting on your own may be easy, but with significant facts or events - which often sound reasonable for these locations - don’t be too accommodating and learn more about its history when stating what you think you’ve known.

The Local guide program means to me when travelling the world, we can see and understand many places that we have never been before through other people that we have not met yet.

In addition, the Local Guide program means my honesty, my responsibility to the community. It also means being open-minded , sharing my knowledge and keeping up with others’ knowledge to understand more about the world I live in, about other people, other communities who are sharing this world with me. That is culture exchange, and from there making new remote friends .

Hi @CHAUTHIEU ,

I’ve noticed that your post has a Vietnamese language label, so I removed it. If you want to know more about the language labels I recommend you to read the article How do I find posts in my preferred language?

I’m Sorry about the inconvenience of my text.

Vietnamese words here are proper nouns only.

Do I need to do anything more?

Thank you,

Yours sincerely

Hi @CHAUTHIEU ,

I’ve removed the Vietnamese language label and now the post is fine, so you don’t need to take any other action.

If you want to communicate with someone from the community, you can write the symbol “@” before the name of the person and this way he will receive a notificiation.

Have a great day!

Hi @PoliMC

Thank you very much for you help.

This is my first post on local guides connect, And I’m sure there many things I do not know clearly.

Once again, thank you,

Yours sincerely
