Why do we have to resize the images?

I noticed each time I need to post a photo. They tell me it’s too large. The problem if I resize I have to cut something from the image and it doesn’t show a good photo.

Can Google extend the size a little bit?

@SunshineNY I had the same problem but now I have the solution!!!

You need to download this app: “Reducir la foto”

It will help you to reduce all your pictures in percentages (%). Example: If you have a 4MB picture it can be reduced to 500kb easily. Good thing is that you can reduce many many pictures at the same time.

If you wanna try other apps I found this website that might help you: 6 apps to reduce photo size

Hope this helps!

best wishes,

Marco

@marcorp , thank you very much. I will try to do it. I resize it just with my phone but always I cut something. A piece of something. I don’t want to cut an ear or legs lol. Just kidding. Really it’s bothering me and most of my images there is something missing.

@SunshineNY Did you cut some quality of the photo or did you cut a part of the photo?

If I use my phone to resize photos, I would send those photos on email to myself. The email app will ask you to resize the photos. You can try to choose Small, Medium or Large size. See which one give the largest size but smaller than 3 MB. This way, every part of photos stay the same, only quality drops but photos with 2.xx MB size will give you a good quality.

But mostly I resize them on my laptop. It’s more convenient.

@marcorp . Yes, I downloaded the App. It’s very interesting and I need just to choose the exact size that we need to use here.

Thanks.

@Ant_Bad_Yogi , thanks for replying. Yes, I cut parts of the photo because I found that option on my phone. Maybe I have some others options but I don’t know them.

The problem, I use my phone most of the time.

Hi, @SunshineNY , simply use any photo editor to reduce the resolution of the photo. For example, Windows 10 has its own basic photo editor by which you can reduce the size. It’s the simplest way I guess if you use windows.

@SunshineNY , Okay, I got it. Perhaps, you need to use some apps to resize the photo before you upload on LGC.

Concordo, muitas das minhas melhores fotos têm o dobro do espaço permitido.

Poderiam pelo menos disponibilizarem uma interface com o google photos no qual a resolução já é reduzida.

Maybe your post should be in the How-Tos board @SunshineNY I will tag @Christina-NYC for her thought on this.

Hi @SunshineNY

please do not confuse “resize” with “crop”. When you resize a photo, you keep the same format but with a lower resolution. A 3MB photo is corresponding to a size of (more or less) 3000 * 2250 pixel, that is more than a Full screen on a standard “Full HD” Computer monitor.

You have several ways to upload / add / share photos on your post in Connect:

Upload - “No single photo file may exceed 3,072KB (kilobytes) in file size. If it is larger than this, you will need to resize it

Embed - You can embed a Full size photo in Connect, if you have a photo stored on another place

Re-use - You can use a photo already uploaded by you, without uploading it again

Share - You can share a link to a photo that is stored on Google Photo, or one of your photo in Google Maps. You can also share a photo album from Google Photo

Use a photo from our library - “you may not always have a relevant photo of your own to share. That’s why we’ve introduced the Connect Photo Library

Hi @SunshineNY ,

All the fellwos LGs has giving you many interesting advises.

My favorite ways to upload photos with the right size is from Google Photos:

A) I download them and when upload to Connect the size fit perfect. This way count against your the limit we have allowed ( 1,000 photos)

B) I edit my posts using the HTML tap and make a link to my Google Photos images using there URL. This way don´t count against your limit. Then you can continue editing with “rich text” option.

You have to add

Be careful with the IMAGEURL because it´s not the website’s URL, you have to open the imagen.

For sample: you open and photo and find something like this https://photos.google.com/photo

You have to open it again with an option pressing the right button of the mouse that says something like “open the imagen on a new tab”, and you will find a veeeery long link like https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/xNUhi3ydVJQZrUjkVF0dZtnM0 … This is the link you have to add.

These are the ways I use… Here we are, learning from each other .

The links that @ErmesT has giving to you are full of interesting information about Connect and photos.

Good Afternoon from the South of Spain,

Alejandra.

@Enaiyat ، yes, I will try to do it. @Marcorp gave me some Apps.

@ErmesT , thanks for your reply. Yes, I use “crop” to resize but I lose the some details. Look at those pictures and you will see the difference by using “crop”
