Why do my Street View contributions show others' contributions?

Google Maps > Hamburger menu > Your contributions > Photos > Select one of my Street View contributions > it shows a Street View contribution that is unrelated to mine.

Could anyone offer a tip on this?

Please, try Clear cache & cookies, if you have not already done so. The link has step-by-step instructions for Android, IOS, and Desktop. Just select the relevant tab at the top.

From November 20, 2020, the support for the Street View Trusted Photographers is no longer active in Local Guides Connect.

You can visit the new Street View trusted Help Center, where Street View Moderators can support you with your issues.

You should have access to the new site. If not, please let us know.

Best of luck
Morten

Sorry, if you are not a trusted streetview photographer then you will not get access to the new help center.

We had some issue like your in the past, and the reason was that the 360 was not approved by Google Maps.

Can please share with us the link to the 360?

Can you also check in your Street View App the status of your photo? Can you share a screenshot?

The information will help us to give you a more specific answer

Thank you for lending a hand here.

I followed your instructions and cleared the browsing data, closed Chrome, restarted Chrome. The problem remains the same. When I clicked one of my contributions, the window shows a Street View created by another person.

Here is the link.

Here is the screenshot:

The Street View has nothing to do with mine. It is from a different person and created on a different date.

Street View on my Android is strange. If I go to Profile:

  1. Select only Published: 0 results.

  2. Select only Processing: 1 result.

  3. Select both Published and Processing: 12 restuls:

How can A & B > A || B?

Hi @hz10

If I check in your profile, the photo is not there. so there are two options:

  • something went wrong during the publication of the photo
  • your photo has been removed for not matching the criteria required by Street View

In any case, in your private profile, the photo has been replaced by one taken by Google Street View related to the same location

My suggestion is:

  • Check also the Error Folder of the App
  • Check if your photo match the requisite, (At least 7.5MP (4K) with a 2:1 aspect ratio - No more than 75 megabytes in size)
  • Delete from Google Map the not visible photo
  • Uninstall and Reinstall again the Street View App
  • Upload the photo again, being sure that you have a good connection

Thank you for the tips that I will follow.

I should have stated that all the photos are generated by:

Street View on Android > Create > Photo Sphere > Take photos by following the yellow circles > Submit

I should have mentioned that the thumbnails on the left as shown by the screenshot are correct - they are from the photos that I took.

I’ve got your point, @hz10

I’ve checked your contributions, and i am not able to find that photo. maybe I am mistaking, but you can check by yourself by visiting your public profile in anonymous (Incognito) mode from this link: https://www.google.com/maps/contrib/117064468060383701329

Yes, you are right that they do not show up on my public profile. Only my private profile shows them that even displays the number of views:

Thanks @hz10

As I said, I scrolled down all your photos. Please try to follo the steps already mentioned, and let us have a feedback.

A would ask you also to tag the person you are responding to by typing @and clicking then in the username. Moderators follow a lot of conversations, and we can easily miss one post if we are not tagged

@ErmesT

The error tab is empty.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Street View. Now SV looks dramatically different from the previous one. I do not know why.

I do not know what resolution SV uses to take photos. I checked regular photos taken by the phone. Their resolution is 4000x3000 (12 M).

I deleted a SV contribution, but am no longer able to find it on SV. Does uninstalling the app delete all the SV photos taken by the previous instance of SV?

So contributions show Maps rejected. I am not sure what it means:

Thanks, @hz10 , so we’ve got a point: The photo has been removed because “Rejected”.

A photo uploaded Through the street view App can have three status:

  • Not Approved - this is the status when a photo is uploaded - The photo is visible in Maps end get views
  • Approved - The photo has been checked by Google Street View, and match with all the parameters
  • Rejected - A photo can be rejected for several reasons. The most common are Bad quality (low resolution, bad stitching) and Privacy (e.g. face are not blurred and/or the photo has been reported), but it may have been removed also because of a bug. That’s why I asked you to upload the photo again

@ErmesT I have deleted every SV contribution on Google maps in order to start from scratch. I tried to upload them again as you suggested. I am unable to find any of the photos that I took with SV. Could you offer a tip about where I can locate them and upload them again. I will try to do one at a time and move to next one after the first one is successful.

This depends of your settings, @hz10

It should be in the storage folder defined by you in your settings, and you may have, if you activated the sync, a copy on your Google Photos, or in the archive, reachable from the desktop version of Google Maps, by clicking on the PiCasa logo on the bottom right corner

@ErmesT All my photos are synchronized with Google Photos correctly except for those taken by SV.

I cannot find Settings of SV or the Picassa icon logo that you mentioned. Sorry for my ignorance.

Here is the Google Maps on desktop Chrome:

Ok, @hz10

This link will send you to your photo archive: https://get.google.com/albumarchive/ .

You can obtain the link by opening one of your photo in maps and clicking on the Picasa logo

First of all you can also try Google Takeout: https://takeout.google.com/ then selecting Maps

Pressing in All Maps data Included, you can select the content to download. Unfortunately there is not an option to select which photo to download

However the photos may not be recovered, as Maps rejected the photo, and not being synchronized, the photo were probably deleted when you uploaded them (this is the default setting). My suggestion is to turn OFF the auto deletion and to set a folder for the backup

Make sure to be connected in WiFi, because the operation use a lot of data

@ErmesT

Thank you for the tip. I have created the export that will start on March 14. Hope all the SV photos that I took during this trip will not be lost permanently. Where can I find settings that allow avoiding auto-deletion?

In your Street View App go to settings touching your avatar, then scroll down to “Delete photos and videos from device after upload”

In the setting you can find also the “Photo and video storage location” where to define the storage folder.

After that, in Google Photos, select that folder for backup and sync
