Google has been a very large part of my life since internet became widely available. Since I was born in 1995, I got to see the internet become more powerful and more accessable to people all around the world. At first Google was a place that I could find music, or get help with video games, but as I grew older, it has become so much more. In college, Google provided me with information almost daily to help me with my homework. I started using my Google account to log in to almost everything. Google has grown with me, and continues to do so. Google maps helped me get directions to my job interview and helped me get my first job after college as a mechanical engineer. When I decided to go back to college for my masters degree in business administration, Google was still there. Google has always been there for me helping me out, so I decided I needed to give back. While I like posting pictures and corrections, my favorite way to give back is through reviewing and answering questions about small businesses that might otherwise go unnoticed. There are so many wonderful family owned businesses and restaurants hiding around, and I like to leave reviews on them so that others can find them and enjoy them too. Promoting small businesses is important to me because my parents own a small businesses that Google freely promotes through it’s search engine and maps. I do not know where I would be without Google, so I feel obligated to be a Guide and help contribute back to a company that has done so much for me.
