So, I clicked some pictures of a village named Bhoma. When I tried to upload them on the Google maps then there wasn’t any option showing for uploading. Please tell me why this problem is occuring and how to fix it because villages are the big part of Indian society and I want to mark them.
Hi
There is actually a way around this.
-
On mobile, open your photo (say, in Google Photos).
-
Click the share button.
-
Choose Google Maps.
-
Use the ‘Select place’ drop-down and choose ‘somewhere else’.
-
Type in the name of the village (or city, region, etc.)
-
Select.
-
Hit the blue ‘share’ button.
I’ve used this method many times and it works every time. Good luck and keep sharing!
Regards!
Stuart
Hi @DeepG
according to Google Maps Rules (Add, remove, or share photos and videos) You can’t add photos or videos to addresses.
Even if the procedure indicated by @Stuart_C will give you a workaround, there is a possibility that the photos will be removed in the future, because not in according with Google Maps Rules

Hello @DeepG ,
Thank you for reaching out to us and thank you for helping @ErmesT .
I just wanted to let you know that I am going to move your post to the How-tos section.
Hi @ErmesT
I don’t think it’s breaking the rules - we’re not talking about particular addresses, but villages or towns. I use this method when I have, say, a panoramic photo which can’t easily be ascribed to a business or specific map feature. What are your thoughts?
Stuart
We had several conversations in the past about this specific subject, @Stuart_C . The integration between Google products, in this case Maps and Photos, have the purpose of helping us in adding contribution in Maps, following Google Maps rules. So, if a photo should not be added using Google Maps, should not be added also in an “alternative” way. We can open here a big point, about the places that are legitimate to receive photos, and the places that actually are not. It will be interesting to open a suggestion in Idea exchange for this subject, and I will be happy to contribute in the conversation.
My reply, about the potential removal of photos not related to POI, is coming from some previous reply from @BruceDM . I will try to locate it (it was some month ago) and I share it with you
This is a related/relevant post to read to understand the history of points and polygons. We cannot edit polygons and it’s likely that most villages as the example are present in maps as a polygon. Read Flash’s reply in this post below. Not just photos, but edits cannot be made as well to the polygons.
