Why become a Local Guide?

I have to be honest: the main reason to become a Local Guide for me is… myself. I got a really bad memory, and take notes on Maps about the places I visited and enjoyed is the best way to remind me spots and things that otherwise would be lost in time like tears in rain!

Jokes aside: I really love to share my advice about good things in life, especially when it comes to eat & drink. I did this in the last 15 years (or more) as a blogger and writer, and it’s really amazing to keep doing it, in a different way, as a Local Guide. Even if it’s a small contribution, it’s nice to know that my opinion can be useful to someone, somewhere in the world (most likely in Italy).

Sometimes I also share bad reviews. That’s a battle I’ve been fighting for many years. It’s not pleasant to speak bad about anyone, but I think that in certain cases it’s important to do so, to spare someone else a negative experience.

I want to leave you with a story from back in time, when Local Guides didn’t exist. When I went for the first time to the place you can see in the picture, it was only a small restaurant between the mountains, only known by the villagers. Thanks to our small online review, it has become now a renowned place to taste the typical dishes of the area. And, of course, you can find it on Google Maps!
