I am from Malaysia, a multiracial country located right at the middle of the equator, in the middle of Thailand and Singapore. Currently working as a freelancer, I traveled often around Malaysia. And every time I visit a new place, I will use my smartphone to save the location and snap down some pictures and videos.
Before knowing Google Local Guide, I only share the location I been to my own social media network, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. What I meant by sharing the location, I will embed pictures, videos, some commentary of the location to my friends. And I realized that’s not enough, I know I have better chances to share all these information to anyone around the internet. And there, I know Google Local Guide.
And as a Google Local Guide, I able to share my thoughts, pictures, videos of certain places. Malaysia has a lot of places which haven’t been discovered by lots of people, including some local businesses like newspaper stalls, deserts stalls (Malaysians are sweet tooth) and things like that. Even there’s a business listed on Google Maps, there’s simply not enough information such as business hours, reviews, phone number etc. Some business owners are really happy to share their information with Google with my help.
That’s why I wanna make a change, with Google Local Guide, I want to bring this places more accessible to the world, make some exposure, let people know their existence.
