Out of all the activities that a local guide can perform on Google maps, I prefer adding photos of places. This is one of the simplest but most impactful action out of all I believe. This tells the world how you see a place as an individual and how you prefer to tell the world about it on your point of view. When most of the local guides add photos of a place to the map, it gives a detailed description and great insights about the particular place from a number of people’s point of view. This simple act helps others to get a clear idea about the place they are looking for. Whenever I see different types of photos added about a single place to the map by several local guides, I always witness the beauty of the vast diversity even a simple place can hold. That can be due to a different period of the year, different time slot of the day, special situation, different viewpoint etc. Thanks to the photos uploaded, the others can get a better idea about the particular place. It helps travellers, business owners etc. a lot.
I have herewith added few photos which made me feel important about this action.
Sri Siva Subramania Swami Kovil – Colombo 13.
This is the photo which made me fall in love with this action.
In fact, I did not have much interest in taking and adding photos till I start receiving emails from Google maps saying that this photo is really popular. It has been viewed by many people and when it’s said that “your photo is making a difference”, “This photo has reached a whole new level” I really felt it. Then I started though about this simple act & realised how that can add value to the process. It’s awesome to know that I have helped others to explore more.
Henarathgoda Botanic Gardens
This is a photo taken inside a Botanical garden which doesn’t have a direct connection with the daily activities of the particular garden. This is an uncommon scene & a different kind of a cow to that area. This photo has been viewed by many within a short period of time. maybe due to those reasons.
