Do you find yourself suddenly being a unofficial brand ambassador for quaint out of the way places? Do you suddenly turn into a tourist guide of sorts when people ask for recommendations for places to hang and have a good time? Its always have been like that to me since I first learned to drive. I wished I could print my mental map on places Ive visited In my life. Then GPS devices came along. You could then index your favorite hangouts, but that was about it. Some online sites offered reviews and directions, but not a way to provide feedback until you got home and turned on the computer, at which time you had forgotten important details and experiences. Then came Google Maps…on your phone…and suddenly you could add details, operating hours, and enter new places that had opened up recently. Sometimes owners would encourage reviews and picture taking. I always offered a review, and the owners would agree to it, sometimes they looked skeptical and asked if they were going to be charged for it. Sometimes businesses took off after a good review, and owners would remember you when you went back. You were always “The Guy” that brought in the crowd, and business owners would smile back in the next visit. Im just glad to point people their way whenever I can, because I can.
