ConnectLive 2025 Post Series. This post is a part of my series before, during, and after ConnectLive 2025 New York City showcasing unique attractions, activities, and facts about the city
Ever watched Ghostbusters and dreamed of sliding down that fire pole? While the fire pole might be movie magic, the iconic Ghostbusters firehouse is a real place in New York City. Located at 14 North Moore Street in Tribeca, this unassuming building is a must-see for any franchise fan.
A Real Firehouse with Hollywood History
The building isnât just a movie set facade; itâs a real, working firehouse. Itâs home to FDNYâs Hook & Ladder Company 8. It was built in 1903 and has been serving the city for over a century. It gained its legendary status when it was chosen as the exterior for the Ghostbustersâ headquarters in the original 1984 film. You might recognize the distinctive red doors and the âHook & Ladder 8â sign!
Can You Take a Tour?
While you canât exactly go inside and explore Peter Venkmanâs office or the containment unit (sorry!), you can visit and snap some photos! Itâs a fully operational firehouse, so remember to be respectful of the firefighters doing their important work. Many fans make a pilgrimage to this spot, and youâll often see people taking pictures and soaking in the atmosphere. There arenât official tours inside, but just being there and seeing the building in person is a thrill for any Ghostbusters enthusiast. You can almost hear the siren and the âwhoop whoopâ!
So, next time youâre in NYC, make sure to swing by 14 North Moore Street. Itâs a fun little detour and a chance to connect with a piece of movie history. Just donât expect to see any proton packs lying around!
