WHO WILL VERIFY THEM ON THE MAPS ?

Hello Smart Peoples :raised_hand:

I am still unaware of this point , even though I’ve been a LG for 4 years maybe, or less :thinking:

As I am a LG and I do a maps contributions always, I so far added a 199 places by myself as a Maps contributions , and all these additions of places are not belong to either me to own them and manage them or to a business owners.

Examples:

1 . I’ve added a several supermarkets as a maps contributions ( POIs ) to those who own them and manage them on the land, but they are not managing them on the maps ! The owners of these supermarkets don’t know anything about ( GMB ) and ownership. Now who will verify their places Ive added to the maps for them so that they can be verified after published?

  1. Same as above, I’ve aided several Takeaway coffee :coffee: Shops to maps as a LGs contributions, but the owners of these Takeaway coffee Shops, don’t Mange them and don’t use ( GMB ) as they are owners so they can verify their places !

I think I am now need to know how my added places to the Google Maps will be verified after I receive ( Published ) via E ???

As shown in the screen shot, I’ve added the 199 POIs , and as I knew the policy of the LGs that he can’t own any businesses to manage.

Those 199 are not also managed by their real owners!

How will they be verified and who will verify them ?

Very respectfully

Hi @OSAMA_1

One thing is to add a new place/business to Google Maps and get it approved.

Another thing is for the owner to claim and verify the ownership so they get better control over the listing.

After you added a place only the owner or manager should claim it. No one else should.

It is perfectly OK to have businesses listed on Google Maps while they are not claimed/verified.

Does this explain your doubts?

All the best

Hello @OSAMA_1 ,

As @MortenCopenhagen stated, places on the map do not need to be verified. Only the business owner or their official representative can claim them; and if they do not wish to do so then that is up to them.

If places on the map were required to be verified then there would not be an option for you to add the places. Instead they would be added when and if the owner made a claim.

You are being offered the ability to add the places that no one has bothered to add via GMB.

The vast majority of places on the map are not claimed. Once you have them accurately represented on the map, you no longer need to worry about them.

Hi again smart peoples

@Flash

@MortenCopenhagen

@ErmesT

Well thanks so much for let me relax and get a good understanding.

Please let me.be more clear . The story is bigger than I mentioned !

  1. About one year and half maybe, I’ve added a work shop , coffee shop, and …etc for a people who own them.in my area. Two weeks later, they made a phone call with me informing me that they received a phone calls from Dubai from a people telling them that they are checking for their added places to verify them on the maps !!! :astonished:

I answered ( I have no Idea about those people and I didn’t know anything about what are you talking about !! )

But the places I’ve mentioned in this story are not affected and they are still on the Maps shown up.

  1. While I was looking at my FB page like normal, I accidentally saw a page announcing that they are a verifiers for a places and they are authorized to add places and verify them when they are published !!!

This Page take money from people who own places and want to add them on the Maps . The followers of this page complied and pay money for those people !!!

I am wondering whether there is a program belong to Google that allow people to verify places on the maps .!!!

Thank you

@OSAMA_1 , a person calling from Dubai could have been one of three things:

  1. A Google Maps employee verifying your edit.
  2. A Google Maps user being over enthusiastic when doing “Check the facts”
  3. A spammer noticing your addition to the map and trying to get the business to pay.

Adding a business via GMB or Maps never costs money. People are free to pay others to do the work for them or to try and increase their search presence (SEO).

If someone from Google did call to confirm your edit, that’s all they were doing. The owner would still need to separately apply for GMB and go through their verification process.

hi @TsekoV

Why it is a solution please?

I had no issue that needed fixing.

That article was just a question to get knowledge only…

I had no issues that been fixed by ( answer) .

Does it mean when I ask a question about getting knowledge and when I get answer, is the answer means ( Solution ) ?

In the LGs forum I knew that solutions only when there are an Issues and the issues can be fixed by solutions, then after I get the solution, I can continue fixing using the solution :wink: .

I think I got an answer for my question, not a solution for and maps contributions issues.

Thanks

Hello @OSAMA_1 ,

Just as I mentioned in my previous post, you are welcome to recap the following article How do I mark comments as solutions? and see what type of posts could have a solution.

Generally speaking, asking an on-topic question on the How-tos board and having received a proper answer by a fellow Local Guide is a good example of when a solution can be used.

Thank you.
