"Who Said You Are Independent And Free To Move?" Asks COVID-19

Today 7/4/2020, I couldn’t withstand and imagine myself minus reporting to Google Maps. I indeed missed it a lot. But while I’m doors for a while, I used to imagine the meaning of independence days a and independence itself.

My country being on a lockdown was indeed not a good thing for us although a good virus combat measure.

I very early in the morning, rode to the Uganda independence monument, one of the mostly visited tourism sites and Kampala city Icons and it was indeed empty of people.

When you look at it, there is a mother who was holding her child higher than her, some say because 9/10/1962 a number of people had gathered to earn their independence from the British Government and so it was hard for kids to see and so the mother raised the kid higher to enable it see what was happening. While others say her raising the kid higher and it (the kid) spreading its hands was a sign of the new beginning and so happy about the sight in the future that looked so bright and exciting.

Yeah, life was exciting then and it cracked down all the imperial policies of no move but now, its as if I heard questions pounding in my apparent head,

“Who said you are independent and free to move?”

Yeah, we aren’t now. I agreed, we are in doors even, we are beaten even for getting out, we can longer access the friends that used to make up our lives, we can longer meet the sweet hearts we used to date from far, we are no longer able to taste the most delicious foods at the restaurant on the other busy street because it closed.

While still dreaming and imitating on how tied we are at everything? I recalled that even standing at the monument now is a haram scaram act of the pendamic.

I rode myself back to indoors but in acceptance that we are indeed not independent now. But whichever the case I was able to contribute to Google Maps. And its cheers to my heart.
