Who or what demoted me?

I’ve gone from Master Reviewer to Novice Reviewer and wonder if it’s a person or algorithms that’s done this?

I’ve also gone from Master Trailblazer to Expert Trailblazer and had both Master badges for many months.

  1. I’ve had issues in the past and it makes you wonder why you make the effort when somebody or something can just wipe away your efforts…

Hello @Mr_Rossi ,

Are you experiencing loss of point as well or missing some of your contributions perhaps?

If you give me more details about your issue, I will be glad to assist you.

Thanks for the quick response. I was a master trailblazer and master reviewer and now seem to have been demoted.

According to the Novice Reviewer badge I’ve only written 1 review over 200 characters out of 1099 reviews.

I feel like Google are out to get me for building up the badges and was once subject to being dismissed from the Google Guide program mistakingly. I would love to know if this is an automatically created or by human intervention?

Hello @Mr_Rossi ,

In your profile I can see you have 1099 reviews but I can’t see any of them. Can you confirm you see all of your reviews?

We’d like to investigate your case further. Thanks for your patience.

It gets worse. I have 1099 reviews and Google says I have not started…

@Mr_Rossi other local guides are reporting similar issues, so it seems to be a more general problem, not something with your account.

There have been previous incidents where counters were set to 0 all of a sudden and as a consequence badges or levels were removed, but at those occasions everything went back to normal after a while (a couple of days usually). Given these circumstances, I would not worry too much for now.

Hi @Mr_Rossi

So sad !! It might happen for technical issues, as Google Moderator @Giu_DiB told you about more investigations, hope you will see a good thing :hugs: :handshake:

Have a nice day my friend :rose: :rose:

Hello @JanVanHaver , @Giu_DiB

There are three posts so far making this identical complaint. Two posts are here in achievements and one in How-to’s.
I find some common factor in all the grievances.
=> The LG’s are at level 10.
=> all reviews become private. Nothing remains visible to the public.
=> Likes count goes to a rock bottom.
As a consequence, the reviewer badge downgrades to Novice.
Is it so that the automated checks are converting the reviews to private? The points remain intact as even a private review contributes to that.

Thanks for the comment and it’s not a complaint it is just frustration.

It would be good to know why it happened though as I am guessing it will be corrected.

I lost my Level Awards in the past and no reason was given when they were finally given back.

Google rely on unpaid (I have never received anything) contributors but it seems there is no way to officially get your issues answered.

I guess my current issue will be resort but at the same time I guess I will never be told what the issue was. Every so often you come across contributors with many more points than me who have lost their levels award and it makes you wonder why should you bother when it can all be taken away anonymously and without being given a reason why.

A week has passed and still the loss of levels continues without any input or help from anybody who actually works for Google.

Google Maps reviews relies on input from unpaid and unrewarded contributors and so you would hope at the very least, Google would look into the issues and advise as to where the mistake lies?

If it’s something that I have done then let me know and if it’s a Google mistake then support the people who make the experience better for others

I have the same problem. No help, nothing. I delete all I can delete. At the pc you can delete faster. Forget to wait for help. There is no customer service for maps.

You would hope that after all the “reaching out” without any resolution that the issue would be escalated in some way? I have noticed over the last few days that views of my videos are no longer counting either… They are still getting many views per day though.

I know that this is a free service but Google rely on consumers in building this network and for them spending many hours of their time in the process. I wonder if Google would take the same approach if there was an issue with missing data in their cloud servers?

I also notice that moderators seem not to be engaging with any of the recent posts and their silence speaks volumes as to lack of support when an issue cannot, it seems, be corrected.

Hi @Mr_Rossi and @VolkerSchmidt ,

I can confirm that both your cases have been escalated to the relevant teams and we will share with you the updates we will receive when the investigations will come to a conclusion.

I understand the unpleasant feeling and I wanted to reassure you that we are taking your concern seriously. Thanks for your patience.

thanks for the update and to let you know that my video views have started updating again with circa 20k additional views appearing today.

I´m just facing a simmilar problem. In may I was Level 7. Now I´m just realizing I´m down to 6, losing nearly 1000 points. A little bit demotivating.
