Which is the most interesting thing I've done as a Local Guide

It might seem strange but when I chose the topic to present for my application to LG conncet Live 2020 , the first idea was: going around in my “adoptive” city and explore it! Adoptive because my home town is Athens in Greece but I live in Parma (Italy) since many years now. Hanging around made me understand that almost every one is attracted to travel abroad and to visit other places while “ignores” the city/place where lives!

I selected some places which are representative and bring to everybody’s attention the beauty of this territory!

Parma is a small city in the north part of Italy in the Emilia Romagna region. This year is the Italian City of Culture 2020! Even if it is small offers a very beautiful historical center very rich of monuments , streets with coloroful houses, restaurants where to taste the tipical cousine, parks and much more!

I will start from the most central part of the city: the square of Garibaldi. The Square is located in the center of the historical center .

The symbol of the square is Garibaldi’s statue! you can take your coffee and admire the view!

The second place which is really amazing is the Cathedral Square with the Baptistery. I live in Parma since 2000 but I’ve never entered before… I know there are no excuses at all. This time I tried to explore each monument and I was astonished! How much hidden beuaty in every corner ! I leave you some photos herewith below:

Anothert place in the city that I haven’t visited for years and that I’ve seen reevaluated is the Piazzale della Pace (Peace Square). There is located the main museum of Parma with the beautiful Farnese theatre inside made of wood!

I don’t want to bore you with a long post. I just wanted to trasmit to everybody my personal experience and to remind that travelling and exploring always new places is a great challenge indeed, and I love it, but at the same time not taking for granted what we have close to us is important too!

Hi @Ersi_Seferiadi ,

The buildings are absolutely beautiful. Seems the ancient heritage has been preserved very nicely.

Thanks for sharing these pictures and description about them. Good Luck for your application too …
