Where to park your laptop: the beauty of coworking spaces and flex offices

Roughly half of the registered businesses in The Netherlands are one-person operations. Freelancers and independents without personnel (ZZP-ers in Dutch). Many of them are painters, carpenters, gardeners or delivery people. Jobs that are not office-linked. But there are also many designers, coders, consultants etcetera, who need a place to park their laptop, an internet connection and some coffee to do their work. Home offices are the norm, but then you’re just sitting there by yourself.
Fortunately there are an increasing number of flexible offices and coworking spaces. From the urban startup hubs to the almost community-center-like spaces in small towns and rural areas. Some with a neutral business look and feel, others hives of creativity and alternative initiatives.
I’m one of these independent entrepreneurs, and I love to work in flex offices and coworking spaces. Whether it’s the likes of B.Amsterdam, iFlow (in the picture) or !Triggr, that doesn’t really matter for me. Most important: connectivity and community.
