Where no man will go after

Captain Kirk says: “Where no man has gone before.” For this story, it is: “Where no man will go after.”

The Ahalanui hot water pond no longer exists. Last year, the eruption on the Hawaii Island destroys many places, including this hot water pond. Don’t ask why the water was hot…

We have enjoyed that place a month before the beginning of the eruption. Since, the pond, but also a large part of the road we have taken were also destroyed. Many houses and beautiful places were destroyed, but at least nobody died.

Many people were sad about all that destruction, but many residents accept those events as the constant renewal of their small island world. So, the lava flow stopped just before another park: Pohoiki. The boat ramp of the park was destroyed, but a beautiful new black sand beach was created. Destruction is maybe the end of something, but it’s also the beginning of something else. I hope I will be able to return there and enjoy this new creation.

Hi @Bruno_Dery ,

Thanks for sharing!

It looks like an incredible place! Such a shame that much of it was destroyed by the eruption.
