When I’m going to a new place, nothing excites me more than not seeing the business from the road or not finding parking when I get there. I jump out of my car (once I find said parking space) and hop from foot to foot as if I’ve just found a 20 dollar bill. I whip out my phone and immediately snap a picture of the front of the building.
The more obscure the better! Does the entrance face a rotary so there’s no way you could park in front of it? Do you have to pay attention to traffic merging at the same time that you’re trying to look for the entrance? These are the reasons I truly love being a Google Local guide! I’m on the hunt for obscure entrances and roadside shops with secret parking! I explain in detail how to get to the ample parking when it appears there are 3 metered spots by the front door.
One of my favorite restaurants in my hometown of Plymouth, NH is The Lucky Dog (If you love good burgers and local art, you gotta check it out). The parking…is atrocious. Metered spots on each side of the street, all full, all the time. Consequently the speed on that road is about 15mph. The trick to getting parking there? They have their OWN spots behind the restaurant. The drive to those spots is so steep you can barely see it from the road. In fact, behind most of that entire street is parking next to a railroad track! To top it off, when you get the spot behind the restaurant, that’s when you see the entrance to the bar downstairs with live music! Double win! Whenever I contribute to Google Local Guides I’m looking to give travelers a relaxing arrival to their destination.
