Before I could see a breakdown of my views on reviews, on photos, and on edits (places you have added).
I know I can find my number of photo and video views under See all photos. And my number of review views would be shown under See all reviews if it was working.
How is total views counted now?
Or is there another place I can find the breakdown?
Add me to the list of disgruntled LGs that dislikes this backward step change that offers reduced functionality. I don’t understand why it’s been changed in this way and not communicated to any if us.
@Bipin0610 - whereas before you opened the app and clicked “contribute” to see this stat and several others in an easy to read format. Progress?
At first I presumed it was just broken like when it just shows the “keep going” tile with the balloon on, I though the other missing ones might appear but no, I guess this is how it is now?
@turbotapeworm@MortenCopenhagen Oh well. I used to feel difficult looking my contribution/achievements in this new format. But I am learning to see. Well I can’t see the recently uploaded photo views but I sort photos list by “most viewed” there I can find the number of views. This new update is still trouble for LG like me. I don’t know how to see the views of edits though.
Thanks a lot good people Maybe this is where you need to click instead.
If nothing else this highlights a recurring issue with the way we Local Guides are treated - a change has happened (unannounced I believe), nobody has clarified why this change was deemed necessary (improvement? technical reasons? trying to hide the regular issue with photo counts? part of the fix for the photos counts issue?). Release notes for the latest app version just say (as usual) “this release brings bug fixes that improve our product to help you discover new places and navigate to them”.
So the change has happened, we accept that (or have no choice) but we want to discuss it and ask why it’s happened… who can tell us? Post on here understandably receive replies from moderators that are supportive of Google but is there an official statement?
I was told to raise it as an idea on here if I wanted the old way back, I know that’s completely pointless, I’ve “sent feedback” in the app, again likely to be pointless as it’s just throwing a message into a black hole but what else can we do?
Yes, in the grand scheme of things it’s a relatively minor annoyance but it seems like change for changes sake and is a backwards step. Who is making these decisions? Who are they asking?
