Ever wondered where in the world did the guy who made the Types of Local Guides during Summit announcements go to since #LGSummit17?
Other than focusing on growing my career, I’ve been thinking about this group and how I missed people in here. Thought I’d share some local guides experiences while I was away.
- Levelled up and still levelling up skills as a trusted street view photographer. In December I covered a rural town in Nyanza, Kenya called Misori (30% complete) and in January made an Indoor Street view of a Chinese Restaurant by my favorite spot, the ice rink.
- Inspired my brother @Benarudo into becoming a Google Trusted Street View photographer. He learnt how to use the app faster and better than I did.
- Became more actively involved with the Nairobi Local Guides. We were invited to give a talk during the GDG Devfest and GoogleAfrica10 celebrations. Thanks to @Dorothyooko , we hope Kenyan local guides will shape our Mapsbetter and have a greater impact locally.
- Within the Nairobi community, we recently participated in the Nairobi Restaurant Week. (Update coming soon). Thanks to Google Kenya and Eatout Kenya, 20 LGs went out to 20 different restaurants to review and contribute to their map listings. (Bhandini Indian Restaurant tour)
- In my#LGSummit17 application video, I shared about the ice hockey rink as a favorite spot. Recently Alibaba sponsored our dream and made an ad based on our dream to participate in the Winter Olympics which the team we’ll attend for the first week.
Pretty sure every month there’s a story to tell about the LG program and #LGSummit17 improved my skills as a guide. I still drop by once in a while and available on messages. Always love seeing and being inspired by other guides on your social posts.
