Welcome to Elevit Plateau, one of the most breathtaking places I have ever visited in Türkiye
With its rushing stream, charming wooden bridges, and traditional stone and wooden houses that reflect the authentic architecture of Rize, Elevit offers a truly magical Black Sea atmosphere. Walking alongside the stream while listening to the soothing sound of the flowing water was one of the most relaxing parts of my visit.
The wooden bridges and traditional highland houses also make perfect spots for taking memorable photos with the stunning mountain scenery in the background.
When it comes to food, I highly recommend trying kuymak, one of the Black Sea region’s most famous traditional dishes. Enjoying this delicious meal surrounded by nature was definitely one of the highlights of my trip.
How to Get to Elevit Plateau
Elevit Plateau is located about 35 km from the center of Çamlıhemşin, Rize. The road is fully paved up to Çat village, making for a pleasant drive. After the village, however, the road becomes unpaved, rocky, and uneven. If you’re traveling with a low-clearance vehicle, drive carefully. For a more comfortable journey, I recommend using a vehicle with higher ground clearance.
Phone Signal: Mobile coverage may be limited in some parts of the plateau. I recommend downloading an offline map on Google Maps or your preferred navigation app before your trip.
Weather: Due to the high elevation, the weather can change quickly. Even on sunny days, fog may roll in unexpectedly, and temperatures can drop. Bringing a rain jacket or a light jacket is a good idea.
Cash: Some businesses may not be able to accept card payments because of unstable internet connections. Carrying some cash is recommended.
Protect Nature: Waste collection facilities are limited in the plateau. Please take your trash with you and help preserve this beautiful natural environment.
