I’ve been contributing to Google Maps for some years. Frequently, I receive emails from “Local Guides de Google” congratulating me, and asking me to be more involved senf¡ding more pictures, comments, etc.
I’ve achieved more than 500 points, but until now I haven’t received or even see any kind of reward to me. Also I still dont know what are exactly the real rewards available.
What happens?
Where are the list of rewards according to one’s level and how to get them?
To make you feel at home I suggest you take a look at Your Guide to Connect (it’s a quick introduction to our community) and feel free to introduce yourself here.
If you have questions, try using the search field at the top first. Then check the Help desk documents and What are Connect topics before asking a new question in the How-to section.
If you expect rewards for your efforts then Local Guides isn’t the best place for you. We are all volunteers. We do what we do to help Maps Users and the community. If you get a perk then it’s a bonus, not a right. There is no perks linked to levels except your level.
There is no pattern, and there’s no fairness in who gets perks. It is just a marketing gimmick.
My motivation is the joy of knowing that I’m helping a lot of people and businesses. Also, making new friends here on Connect can be considered a great peek. I find it very rewarding being a Local Guide.
Hang in there, keep up the good work and maybe one day it’ll be your turn.
Not aware of awards for levels. There are rewards in the Google Play Store. That you get from time to time. Certain places that you interact with may also offer you rewards out of the blue as well. I am receiving a few 30% of discounts at the moment.
