Do I need to be a vegetarian to vegetarian food?
I have heard on many occasions comments that in order to enjoy vegetarian food you have to be a vegetarian, but no one ever puts that logic for fruit? Must one be a frugivore in order to truly enjoy a mango? Food is food, and because I am a vegetarian, since 2014, whenever a restaurant, shop, cafe puts a spin on food that is vegetarian friendly, I smile. Typically, for these restaurants I leave a comment to show my thanks.
Does vegetarian food lack X?
Vegetarian food can lack anything any other food if that food is missing X; however, when any food has X, well, it tastes good. Some notable places that do have the X in their vegetarian or vegan food, in my opinion of course, have ranged from Buddhist temples to crafty bakeries making macaroons.
What are some easy vegetarian things to jump into?
Some easy vegetarian things to get into are Mexican dishes that are without pork contents. For instance, spinach enchiladas with black beans is one of my favorites. Just make sure they do not include lard or “manteca”. Greek yogurt with granola is one of my go-to breakfast items; whether if not it has fresh fruits like blueberries and strawberries or even mango and dragon fruit.
What are some of your all time favorite vegetarian dishes?
Since I have three strong cultural influences guiding my tastes (Mexican, Chinese-Vietnamese, and North-Indian) I tend to favor my comfort foods. I like a great caldo aka soup (vegetable soup containing squash, carrots, cabbage, jalapeno, cilantro, rice), various stir fry dishes (Napa cabbage with black fungus, tofu Lúc Lắc), or rajma.
