When to add bike/foot path or unclassified road

Hey,

as of lately I’ve been adding quite a lot of roads, which are mostly bike/foot paths.

By saying this it porbably seems that I should just add them as those, but since there are a lot of roads that are just very small but somehow still act as if they were paths I started to wonder if there is somewhat of a guidline for this.

To clarify, in the picture below you can see a “real” bike/foot path (as they appear when marked like that) on the top and an “unmarked” path in the middle.

Maybe someone has some info for me.

Greetings,

Tim :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello, @Timmel

I have not come across any such guidelines to date.

Nevertheless, there can be a checklist like

  1. Creation of road is going to help the community to navigate better.
  2. People are using that regularly & it’s not an unauthorized shortcut.
  3. It’s safe to use.
  4. The path is visible in a satellite view.

In short, one should suggest the road addition to benefit everybody & not for scoring some points.

Hello @Timmel ,

Thanks for reaching out! The details about adding a missing cycle track are the same you could follow to add a missing road. What you have to do is to add as many details you can in the feedback report.

You can take a look at this guideline article.
