When there is a gem right around the corner hidden from Google maps.

So I love Greek food, but we don’t have many Greek food places in the city I live. I moved to the place I currently live 2 years ago, and there is this street around the corner that barely anyone takes as it doesn’t connect to any streets that aren’t faster to reach in other ways. However due to roadwork I decided to cycle through this street less than 200 meters away from my house for the first time. I spotted this snackbar that also sells some Greek food, and decided to check it the same evening.

The owner recognized me immediately as a new customer, was super friendly and decided to give me free samples of some of the other food to make sure I would come back. The food was extremely good, and of course I’m gonna come return soon. However I wondered how I could have never known about this store before in the 2 years I lived so close to it. So when I looked for “Greek food” and “snackbar” on Google maps the place I used to go to before my discovery, about just as far away from my home, was the only one showing up. So it turns out this new store is actually on Google maps, but just with his store name. No tags, no menus and only one photo from street view where the rolling shutters are down.

So I’m super excited so visit him soon with my DSLR to take some nice pictures of the place, explain him how he can claim the store on Google maps and to just put him out there on Google maps
