I grew up on a remote farm in the Southern part of the Free State province in South Africa. As a child, the farm was my life and I spent many happy childhood hours there. When my father died at the end of my school years my mother sold the farm. Years later it has been turned into a tiger sanctuary (tigers are not indigenous to Africa) but they adapted very well. Visiting the farm again after so many years and be able to photograph these amazing animals and the spectacular beauty of the canyons was something very special to me. Visitors from all over the world visit Tiger Canyons and to me that is also something special that this place of my childhood is now well known and can serve such a special purpose. The scenery is magnificent and it is really a place more than worthwhile to visit.
