I have always been drawn to people who are friendly, honest and down to earth. For me, nothing is more inspiring than learning from real people. And there have been no dearth of such friends in my life. Last year gave me a wonderful opportunity to meet umpteen numbers of such warm-hearted, like-minded people in the Local Guides community gathering. Here I was fortunate to interact with a number of Local Guides from all over the world who inspired me to live and think creatively and I naturally gravitated towards many such local guides who have shown me the way.
I was fascinated by Ermes Tuon who is zealous about creating a clean environment for the future generations through his campaign ‘Local Guides Clean the World.’ I understood the true meaning of self satisfaction when we contribute towards the betterment of the environment, when I chatted with @ErmesT . I also realized that we, Local Guides not only map roads but we also ‘take the roads less travelled.’
Stephen Abraham’s gregarious nature and his natural charm made me aware of the power of a friendly Local guide. The ease with which @StephenAbraham helps and motivates other local guides is a must watch. His unique style in amalgamating the Malaysian and Keralite cultures and introducing others to it is definitely worth emulating.
When I met Steve Pierre for the first time, I realized how effervescent people inspire confidence in others to be more forthcoming and expressive. @SP31 has this personality that puts the people around him in a warm bubble of homely comfort. His humility and his approachability is a lesson to be learnt by every local guide.
When local guides extend their helping hands to not only making a difference in their local community, but also in their country, that’s when a local guide turns into a global guide. Sanya Oluwadare is one such global guide whose contributions have made it easier for people of Lagos to navigate even in difficult terrains. @SanyaOdare down to earth attitude is awe-inspiring.
But I have always been inspired by people who have the courage to follow their heart and to feel more of the abundance around them, instead of the limitations, who find reasons to live life to the fullest. Denise Barlock is one such local guide who stands out in the crowd for being someone who manifests her dreams through travelling in a RV. ‘A new city every month’ is her life’s motto. Bitten by the wanderlust bug, she covers about 19,000 km in a year. With a cheerful disposition and a warm welcoming smile, @Denise_Barlock takes life and its myriad colors in her stride. As she loves to talk to people she makes it a point to have an ever changing life, every single day. And as I haven’t met many such people in my life, Denise is one such local guide who is my personal inspiration because where there is a will there are Denise number of ways!
There are many more Local Guides who have inspired me, more such posts to follow…
