When in the Philippines Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is a must

Highly recommend anyone visiting Puerto Princesa, Phillippines to take a tour of the Subterranean River National Park. This Landmark is a world of its own with some amazing rock formations and untouched beauty. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 and voted as a New7Wonders of Nature in 2012.

The park is located in the Saint Paul Mountain Range on the western coast of the island of Palawan, about 80 kilometres (50 mi) north of the city centre of Puerto Princesa, and contains the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River. It has been managed by the City Government of Puerto Princesa since 1992.

It was a smooth boat ride with a very knowledgeable guide guiding the boat through the many dark chambers.

Inside the River System

Please note: It is very dark inside, the only light source is the light from the guides helmet and can feel claustrophobic.

Again highly recommend this as things to do. I will give it a 5 out 5.

Hi @EwanArnolda , myself I am looking forward for a vacation in Philippines next year and I’m putting this site on my “to go” list.

However, since I am travelling with my family including a 5 year old, do you think it’s a good place to go? Is this place very crowded?

Hi @jowlis

its a great place for families. We went with 4 families with kids ranging from 4-12.

when we went in March there was no crowd at all.

hope you enjoy your trip to the Philippines.
