When in Melbourne you can’t miss visiting The Australian Gardens -Cranbourne Gardens. Located 45 mins from Melbourne City it’s a perfect day out for families or anyone loving the great outdoors. The Garden specialises in Australian native plants in a total area of 363 hectares, including heathlands, wetlands and woodlands.
The Garden attractions include:
- Walking and Biking tracks - The 6km Bicycle Tracks with walking tracks varying from 400m to 5.5km catering to all fitness levels.
- Rockpool - get your feet wet, great fun for the kids on a hot day
- Viewing Platform - Trig Point Lookout, just 400m walk from the Visitor Centre.
- Picnic areas - The Woodland Picnic Area provides free barbecue facilities and a children’s playground. In a large open grassland for ball games and biking.
- Australian Garden - this display showcases Australian flora, landscapes, art and architecture. The Australian Garden tells a story of the journey of water from the arid inland landscapes of central Australia, along dry river beds and down mighty rivers to the coastal fringes of the continent.
- Varies display Gardens - Provides visitors with ideas for their gardens.
- Cafe - Provides great coffee and food.
Entry is free
Open from 9am -5pm daily, except Christmas Day.
Visitors can take a 25-minute tour in an open-air bus from $5AUD.
The Gardens also provides endless photo opportunities - macro, bird, floral photography and more. However, Event and Wedding photography will need to obtain a permit from the Cafe.
