It all started one year ago when i was on a road trip across India. I love to travel and by travel i mean on road through smaller not so known destinations. The journey was 20 days long covering 10000km . We visited all four corners of India. it started from Mumbai to Jammu the northern tip to Kolkata the eastern endpoint and Kanyakumari the southern end of India and back. During this journey on one fine day i was in emergency to use wash room. Being a women it is difficult to go to washroom anywhere in open spaces that is when i checked nearest petrol pump on maps as mostly all pumps have toilets. It was no surprise that the washroom was not clean and was beyond its usability. that day for a brief moment i had this thought that as we can see all the facilities near us on google. Similarly we should also be able to rate these on the basis of basic observations. But we were on road for next couple of days and their was a lot more to absorb hence i just left that thought on the pump and moved forward. Six months ago not so far from that thought when i bought new phone i came across local guides. Where google maps was actually asking me basic yet important questions about places i visited. The reviewing system is very easy to understand and is on point.
I believe if we all can contribute it will make a more informative map for use.
Now it has become a habit that whenever i visit a new destination or place i do check in on maps and answer all the questions about the place. Of course local guides has also given me reward for it and i loved those socks.
leaving you with some glimpse of my road trip
