Travelling is one of my greatest passions and joys of live and as a traveller I do understand the importance of sharing the information with other people. Last year when me and my boyfriend decided to take a big trip across Southeast Asia, Google Maps had become our best travel companion. Different countries using different languages and writing and sometimes lack of English translation make your life more difficult and with Google Maps and its reviews you can make it much easier. The Google Maps helped us not to get lost in super frenetic Hanoi filled with heaps of motorcycles, saved us several stomach aches thanks to great reviews of local eateries and last but not least it made way easier the planning of our itineraries. In return of what a great help Google and especially all its reviewers had been to us, I started helping to enlarge the Google Maps community with my own opinions, pictures, videos and all helpful information about places. And somehow this small fun became part of my daily life. Wherever I go now, I try to share my experience and feelings with other people and show them the beauty of this world we’re living in. Thank you, Google, for helping us to explore the Mother Earth and thank you all the people for making it such a unique place in the whole universe.
So @lajnhart you were in Cambodia too. How was it like at your first time?
I am very happy that you have able to enjoy the trip by Google Map!
Hey Sophia! Yeah, I was there in March 2018 with my boyfriend and my friends and sister joined us too. Angkor Wat has always been my childhood dream and I could not believe I was finally able to visit it!
My feelings about Cambodia were and still are a bit mixed as on one side I really loved country’s enchanting places such as the temples of Angkor, picturesque floating villages of Tohle Sap and many more, but on the other hand I felt so sorry for the dark past you went thru during my visit tu Tuol Sleng or Choeung Ek.
Anyway I really hope I’ll have a chance to return and visit Angkor again and of course explore your country more than I managed in 2018.
I am very happy to hear that @lajnhart glad you had wonderful experiences beside those dark past. I did write an article about those dark sites in my posts here. However, I have many more beautiful places to introduce such as islands and beaches. Please give a virtual tour sometimes when your time permits!
We started in Phnom Penh, then headed to Siem Reap to explore the temples and floating village of Kampong Khleang. After we flew to Sihanoukville from where we got to Koh Long Sanloem. After that we drove back to Phnom Penh and caught our flight to Malaysia.
I’d love to come back and explore also the eastern part of Cambodia. Anyway I (or we) have to definitely return one day!
Regarding the virtual tour: Yeah, that’s great idea!
That sounds like a great time already @lajnhart you almost went to major destinations. You must have seen quite a lot through this route.
Yes, please read them when you have time
