When are individual photo view counts visible on Google Maps?

Hi All

When I look at the photo contributions by other Local Guides on Google Maps I sometimes can see the view count on each photo when sorted by views. And sometimes not.

And I have been unable to understand when they are on and when they are missing.

PS: I’m not talking about the total view count which is always available.

Could it be platform-dependent? So I only can see them on my Android and not the Desktop?

Thanks

@MortenCopenhagen I have wondered the same.

Do you have any idea @C_T ?

Hello @sparekh

Frankly, I have never seen an individual photo view count for others, on a desktop browser. Till date, I could see the individual view count of photos only in my contributions.

What @MortenCopenhagen is observing may be a new development and needs to be watched further. Nevertheless, the individual view counts for the photos uploaded by others, is always visible on the phone.

There is one more possibility @sparekh . If one uses a Chromebook along with Android Maps, then all the features available on the phone will be there on the desktop too.

Hello@MortenCopenhegen Yes, it is really sometimes happens.

I think you can only see your own counts but no other’s …am I right? I’ve never seen other’s single photo view number. I can see my own. @MortenCopenhagen

Hi @OliverKIWI

Then how do you explain the pic below?

I think the numbers are only visible in the Android app. They have been consistently since I started checking.

You know what - I use iPhone and Macbook. That’s why I never saw other’s number. So the numbers are not shown to Apple users? @MortenCopenhagen

And I can’t see the LIKE counts either. I saw two likes on your screenshot.

We are all learning by comparing across platforms.

Don’t believe the likes counts. They are not accurate as far as I can tell.

Many thanx and best regards @MortenCopenhagen

I also wonder if different iOS would have different result. I use a rather old iPhone 6+…

The most fundamental difference between the 3 platforms is that on Android the new features show up first - and there is a delay before features show up on Desktop and IOS. If the ever do. Data are pulled from the same database.

I see, thank you again for your knowledge and insight @MortenCopenhagen

@OliverKIWI so I checked on an iPhone 7plus with iOS 13.3.1 and I could see my photo counts from another user’s account.

Thanks @sparekh

Maybe @OliverKIWI should check if he needs to download the latest version of Maps. Or Mayby some older IOS versions don’t have all features.

Hi @MortenCopenhagen

As I experienced we can see individual photo views of other users only on app, not on desktop. And this is available on the app all the time.

My Google Maps is 5.41.0(5.41.2) download from TestFlight.

My iOS is 12.4.6

My Macbook is macOS 10.13.6

Both my iPhone and my Mac can’t see the numbers.

Seems it’s harder and harder to keep us on the same page due to hardware upgrading. The priority is the users with latest hardware and software.

Boa tarde amigo tudo bem?

Me referi aos ícones que aparecem no mapa. Depois que cliquei na imagem de sua foto apareceu no meu mapa:

ícones:para viagem, entrega e posto de gasolina.
